Baccarat Rules

Baccarat is played with eight decks of cards in a shoe. Cards than are of a value less than ten are valued at face value and on the other hand 10, J, Q, K are 0, and A are each given a value of 1. Wagers are placed on the ‘banker,’ the ‘player’ or for a tie (these aren’t actual contenders; they purely appear as the 2 hands to be played).

2 hands of two cards will then be dealt to the ‘banker’ … ‘player’. The score for each hand is the sum of the two cards, but the very first digit is dropped. For example, a hand of seven and 5 produces a total score of 2 (7plus5=12; drop the ‘one’).

A 3rd card can be played depending on the foll. rules:

- If the gambler or banker has a total of eight or nine, each players stand.

- If the player has five or lower, he hits. gamblers stand otherwise.

- If gambler stands, the banker hits of five or lower. If the player hits, a chart shall be used to see if the banker stands or hits.

Baccarat Odds

The bigger of the 2 scores is the winner. Winning bets on the banker pay out 19 to twenty (even odds minus a 5% commission. Commission is kept track of and moved out when you leave the table so make sure to have cash left over before you leave). Winning bets on the player pay 1 to one. Winner bets for tie as a rule pay 8 to one and on occasion 9 to 1. (This is an awful gamble as ties will occur lower than 1 every 10 hands. Run away from wagering on a tie. Regardless odds are noticeably better – 9 to 1 vs. eight to one)

When played properly, baccarat provides fairly good odds, apart from the tie bet of course.

Baccarat Tactics

As with just about every games, Baccarat has some common myths. 1 of which is quite similar to a roulette myth. The past is never actually an indicator of future events. Staying abreast of historic results on a chart is undoubtedly a complete waste of paper as well as an insult to the tree that gave its life to be used as our stationary.

The most common and feasibly most successful method is the one-3-two-6 concept. This method is used to build up wins and cutting back risk.

commence by gambling one unit. If you win, add one more to the 2 on the table for a total of three on the 2nd bet. If you win you will have six on the table, remove four so you have two on the 3rd bet. If you win the 3rd gamble, add 2 to the four on the table for a grand total of six on the fourth gamble.

If you lose on the initial bet, you take a loss of 1. A win on the 1st bet followed by loss on the 2nd creates a loss of two. Wins on the first 2 with a loss on the 3rd gives you a profit of 2. And wins on the first three with a loss on the 4th mean you break even. Winning at all four bets leaves you with 12, a profit of ten. Thus you can get beaten the second bet 5 times for every successful streak of four bets and still break even.
